While the Kentucky Derby Season is not looking exactly the what we'd all hoped for (is anything these days?) the momentos we collect and wear can still serve to inspire our celebratory spirit as we watch from home with our mint juleps this September 5th.
This Derby season we collaborated with Southern brand Surcie Co. on these limited edition charming, vintage inspired charm bracelets and rings handmade with pieces of vintage, commemorative Ketucky Derby china.
We've adapted our mint julep charm bracelets to feature hand cut charms by Lizz Luckhart, Surcie Co. owner and designer who has made a business of repurposing vintage china and turning it into whimsical jewelry and accessories. I worked closely with her in mapping out the best patterns to incorporate and we hand assembled all of the bracelets (and a few cocktail rings!) here in Charelston, SC and named them after 2020 Kentucky Derby contenders.
You can shop our entire collaborative collection hereshop online on her website or order your own custom piece should you by mistake drop one of your grandmother's heirloom pieces of china and want to give it a second life. Just ask Lizz, since this is what inspired her to embark on her new career path.
Surcie is in fact a southern word for a "thoughtful gift" and in during these uncertain times, thoughtful, locally made pieces are even more meaningful.
